Welcome to SDS Driving Academy

At SDS Driving Academy, we plan lessons to meet individual needs, ensuring a supportive and calm environment for all drivers, from beginners to advanced.

The lessons take place in a modern manual Peugeot 208 with dual controls, an ideal vehicle to learn all the skills needed to be a safe and controlled driver.

Lessons are available in the evenings (after college hours), weekends and during the school holidays. Please make contact to discuss availability and times.

Meet the Instructor Steve Danes

I am a fully qualified 'Grade A' DVSA Approved Driving Instructor* (ADI) and a dedicated secondary school teacher, passionate about education both in the classroom and behind the wheel. I plan each driving lesson to progress at a pace that ensures learners feel confident, comfortable, and safe.

With a friendly, patient, and supportive approach, I offer a personalised service, designing lessons to meet the unique needs of each learner based on their skills, experience and confidence levels.

I am committed to helping students achieve their goal by providing focused, one-to-one attention. By working with a small number of students, I ensure a highly personal and effective learning experience.

With over 25 years of experience as a school teacher, I have worked with students across a wide age range, from 11 to 18 years old, giving me a deep understanding of effective teaching strategies for all ages, especially in practical settings.

In addition, I am a trained Mental Health First Aider, which equips me with the skills to support nervous or anxious learners who may feel worried about the process of learning to drive. I am calm, patient, and always take the time to listen to my students, ensuring they feel supported and understood.
